Awards for All Grant Secured for BWC Support Hubs

BWC is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a £20,000 grant from The National Lottery Awards for All programme towards the costs of running our three Women’s Hubs in Brighton this year.

The funding will support us to run our weekly Support Hubs from three venues in Brighton & Hove, offering safe women-only spaces where any woman can drop-in and access support with any issue they’re facing in their lives.

Emma Walsh, Support Services Manager commented:

“We’re thrilled to receive this funding from The National Lottery towards the Hubs’ running costs this year. Our Hubs are a vital resource for women in the city, and this funding couldn’t have come at a better time. Many more women are coming to us in crisis and have nowhere else to turn. Coming to the Hubs not only enables them to access specialist support from BWC colleagues and other partner organisations, but also to meet and connect with other women. Thanks to The National Lottery we can continue to be there for those that need us.”

Last year 180 women attended the Support Hubs – receiving support with everything from food and fuel poverty to housing and domestic abuse. The Hubs also offer a vibrant social space where women offer mutual support.

“It’s been wonderful to have this place of friendship each week. I’ve always needed to feel loved, that’s how I feel when I come to the Hub.  Thank you so much” – Hub Client

The National Lottery Community Fund recently launched its strategy, ‘It starts with community’, which will underpin its efforts to distribute at least £4 billion of National Lottery funding by 2030.

This is driven by four key missions, which are to support communities to come together, be environmentally sustainable, help children and young people thrive and enable people to live healthier lives.

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. Thanks to them, last year (2023/24) The National Lottery Community Fund awarded over half a billion pounds (£686.3 million) of life-changing funding and grants to communities across the UK, supporting over 13,700 projects to turn their great ideas into reality.
