Live Concert to Celebrate International Women’s Day

To celebrate International Women’s Day BWC (Brighton Women’s Centre) is collaborating with WaterBear, The College of Music and Republic of Music for an exciting concert on 8 March 2023. The show will feature live performances from various artists with all proceeds going to BWC.

This one-off show will feature a powerhouse line up of performers from Queen Cult, the femme-queer fronted three piece developing rock band, to KID2, a Norwegian singer-songwriter based in Brighton and ĠENN, as well as Erin May and alx frncs – two up and coming students from WaterBear, The College of Music.

“We’re honoured to be a part of this collaboration with Brighton Women’s Centre and WaterBear. We look forward to presenting our talented musicians to further raise awareness and funding for BWC to continue their crucial work helping vulnerable women in Sussex. Safety, inclusivity, and gender equality is still not where it should be, and we hope to see meaningful change through action.” Commented Linnéa Jörgensen Label Manager from Republic of Music.

“We’re really looking forward to celebrating and being a part of such an important event alongside Brighton Women’s Centre and Republic of Music!” Jodie Amos, Head of Events at WaterBear, The College of Music said.

Guests will also have the opportunity to purchase ‘Music Against Misogyny’ a charity compilation released by Republic of Music through Two-Piers Records on both vinyl and CD. The album features artists such as Brix Smith, Panic Shack, Los Bitchos, Peaness, Dream Wife, Nuha Ruby Ra, Lande Hekt, Momma, ARXX and more. Created to raise awareness of the challenges women face daily as well as to celebrate women’s achievements, all profits from album sales will go to BWC and Rise.

“We’re grateful for this fantastic collaboration that will support our vital work with vulnerable women across Sussex and highlight important issues of gender equality. We can’t think of a more exciting way to connect with our extended community for International Women’s Day!” said Deirdre Bruce-Brand, BWC’s Corporate Fundraiser and Events Manager.
