On the 1st of December 2023, BWC’s Corporate Fundraising and Events Manager Deirdre Bruce – Brand attend Brighton Soup hoping to win £1000 for the BWC foodbank.
BrightonSoup is a platform for small local projects to pitch for seed-funding in a uniquely social, interactive community setting. Those in attendance could listen to four pitches from local organisations all hoping to win money for their designated cause whilst enjoying a delicious bowl of soup!
Taking to the podium to deliver her pitch Deirdre explained how more families are relying on the foodbank than ever and that BWC need funds to buy additional food (including fresh fruit and vegetables), toiletries and menstrual products to meet the growing demand.
“There are women in this city who are struggling to feed themselves and their families. And we need to help them. We are currently spending an additional £300 a month to top up our food stores, so £1,000 would buy food for the next 3 months. If we are fortunate enough to win tonight, the funds would be used immediately to buy food.”
Deirdre’s pitch was successful, and she won £1000 for the foodbank!
Congratulations to Deirdre and thank you to BrightonSoup for hosting the inspiring event.
