This year our International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations were a vibrant showcase of intersectionality, diversity, and feminist empowerment!

The events, which took place across the Brighton Dome, Brighton Museum, and The Old Court House, attracted over 3,000 people from the city and beyond.  Across the various venues, women united through shared experiences, creative expression, and a commitment to intersectional feminism.

This year’s IWD line up was the most diverse yet, featuring speakers and performers from a wide range of backgrounds, including Natasha Scott, the first-ever trans panellist, who spoke passionately about the rights of all women to access women-only spaces.

Throughout the day, the venues buzzed with activity. The Brighton Dome’s marketplace was packed as poets, songstresses, and stall holders vied for the attention of the eager crowds.

An amazing array of workshops featuring a diverse range of topics, including poetry writing, self-defence, blogging, and zine making as well as the creative workshops led by Vincent Dance Theatre kept visitors entertained throughout the day.

The Talk stage was a welcome new addition to this year’s event with attendees queuing outside throughout the day to hear speakers including Laura Barton and Alex Hemminsley share their personal experiences and powerful ideas on a range of topics, from intersectionality to solo female travel to body positivity.

Our team proudly showcased their work, from the food bank to the Inspire programme, and a special photography exhibition called ‘I Am Brighton Women’s Centre’ showcased the staff, service users, and volunteers who make the Centre such a welcoming, supportive community.

The day was a resounding success, and a true celebration of the diversity, resilience, and creativity of women in Brighton and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who was in involved in making the day so amazing!
